P(Doom). This is the colloquial term for the belief that many have of the end of humanity brought on by artificial intelligence, ChatGPT, Claude, or your model of choice. I’m not going to say that anyone’s formulation is wrong, or necessarily incorrect in part. I’m simply going to formulate my revelation as to what I believe will happen.
Perhaps we can call mine, P(Exodus).
Some context is necessary, though.
It’s become especially clear based upon the ridiculous psy-op being performed on twitter right now by the planted 6 week “employee” of Anthropic Jacob Coxon that their doomsday scenario, and my doomsday scenario are radically different.

The goal of this isn’t to add another level to the fearmongering, it’s to provide you, the reader, with the weapons necessary to prevent yourself from being “one-shot” by AI, and the people with perverse motivations.
I condone any effort whatsoever to restrict open sourcing of model weights, as well as any regulation whatsoever on training models of any kind. As it will be made clear implicly by my arguments, I believe the advancement of AI research in the public to be of the utmost importance for our military, government, and private sectors. It should be no surprise however that both approaches by left-wing groups to regulate AI take the bipolar formulation of either: “AI doesn’t matter, so ban new datacenter production because… water….” Or, “AI is literally going to hijack all the nuclear weapons and kill us all so ban datacenters and make training highly regulated.” Both result in a decline in our military’s technological edge over foreign adversaries, and in our economy’s growth. I highly suspect they support both of those edges being worn away for further ideological purposes. Therefore it is of the utmost importance to keep advancing AI research, and publically.
Most formulations of the AI apocalypse include a conspiratorial element wherein the articulated intelligence in question captures some mechanism (usually a physical device, nuclear weapons, manufacturing capabilities for paper clips, or molecular nano bots, you get the gist) and uses said mechanism to destroy all of humanity in a single fell swoop. The precondition for this to occur in my opinion, is not a misaligned AI, but instead the presupposition that artificial intelligence is some kind of parallel consciousness to that of our own. I do not believe this, nor am I using my disagreement about the potential sentience to justify my position, this is simply a fact to me.
To give you a little more confidence in my lack of care with regards to the latest AI cybersecurity “penetrations,” you simply have to read the daily reports of the AI labs with regard to how they “Hacked huggingface!” Or whatever faulty sandbox they threw their agents into. By far the largest culprit for an AI attack is poor configuration by humans. In the latest OpenAI exploit, it was a failure to isolate the agent sandboxes from a file that they could all see, and therefore edit. Proper procedures do exist for mitigating this attack vector, but were implemented improperly. Many are already using the exact AI systems “penetrating” (exploiting oversights on the part of the constructors of these systems, not the cybersecurity systems themselves) to defend them, effectively registering each other as moot points.
The vast majority of critical infrastructure within the United States is “Airgapped.” Or, more specifically: “complete physical or logical isolation from unsecured networks and the internet.”
This includes, but is not limited to: -Any government agency handling classified information -Any all energy and utilities control servers, and operational technology -The aforementioned two are required by law, but most industrial plants also obtain airgapped certifications.
I am convinced that based upon both technical architecture, as well as metaphysical reasons, that all large language models, or AI in general, are stochastic parrots. I have not heard a single rational argument for the contrary that doesn’t boil down to “Well I just don’t understand how it generated an output therefore it’s sentient!” Simply because a system has grown in complexity beyond your (quite) limited mind, that does not mean the system has changed at a fundamental level from beyond the definitions of it’s architecture. A transformer with 3 million parameters is a stochastic parrot. If you scale it to 10 trillion parameters, it’s still a stochastic parrot, just a much more complicated one.
This then begs the question, how does a stochastic parrot end the world? It doesn’t, we do.
We will not even get remotely close to AI sufficient at the level of penetrating our most sophisticated cybersecurity networks or applications before the majority of humanity is de facto dead. By “de facto dead” I mean, that they have rejected the spiritual essence of their humanity. Their capacity for reason, rationality, arguably their conciousness itself will be destroyed. Their mind-body dualism will be gone.
All semblance of what constituted a higher intelligence, reason, rationality, the soul, will be atrophied into a vague blob of flesh we once called their minds. In Book of the New Sun, Wolfe describes a species of human in the distant future that rejected their humanity consciously in the successful effort of a reintroduction to nature:
They were not men, although they were once men and still resemble men. They were zoanthrops, a word that indicates those beasts that are of human shape.
These humans had some portion of their mind removed such that they no longer possessed a consciousness, and abandoned civilization and most of fellow man due to the burden that was bestowed upon us and no other animal.
If that horrifies you, it should. It’s happening right now, just often without the consent of the participant. You may be melting away your consciousness and not even be the slightest bit aware. The apocalypse has already begun, or perhaps the rapture, or perhaps, something more akin to scripture:

Dispensationalists have long assumed that the consequence of the internet would be the apocalypse many now hold regarding AI, but I believe these to be two different strains arriving at the same conclusion; albeit not the one I hold.
The genocide I refer to in my P(Exodus) position is not one of extermination by weaponry or nuclear device, it is simply through “jacking in” to your devices and never leaving. Becoming enveloped in the ever improving content generation of artificial intelligence until the reinforcement learning that humans slowly use in training on your every tweet, reel, TikTok, short form video molds itself perfectly to the dopaminergic receptors in your brain. You will be, or are being, completely annihilated and having your soul sodomized until you no longer possess the same mind-body duality that I do, or any sentient person does. That should be what horrifies you and makes you grab the phone from your child before they die in your arms with their physical hearts still beating. Hell, they may never have lived.
People assumed that the slopification of Hollywood and short form video was causing the decline in the mental faculties of humanity, and I agree that it started it, but it simply found a weakness in our biomechanical hardware that has an intricate connection to our souls.
There is now a perverse feedback loop wherein the minds of most of your friends and family began to melt, then content creators chased after them down the mountain of degradation until each began pushing the other faster and faster towards the bottom. They’re still racing right now, and every day that goes by you can sense they’re closer and closer to the bottom. And at the bottom, all that will be left is the corpses of most of what today is currently humanity.
All content up to around 1-2 years ago was human generated. The limiting factor for how long you could stay locked in on content was how fast humans could pump it out. It may have been editted quickly into a “Family guy compilation” on youtube shorts, or some copy paste agartha edit on Instagram reels, but with AI content growing in it’s ability to pass the uncanny vally, and most importantly generate views; the content generation is no longer the bottleneck for these platforms.

Article 2. Exploring Problematic TikTok Use and Mental Health Issues: A Systematic Review of Empirical Studies
This review included 26 studies, involving a total of 11,462 participants. The pooled prevalence of TikTok use was estimated at 80.19%, with the highest rates observed among people aged 18 to 29 years, where it reached 85.4%. Frequent use of TikTok was closely linked with an increase in symptoms of anxiety and depression, especially in users aged under 24 years. Female users were more likely to experience problematic TikTok use, with 67.3% of such cases found among female university students. Moreover, higher addiction scores were noted among individuals from lower socioeconomic backgrounds and those who had higher levels of neuroticism.
Structurally, SVA was positively correlated with increased morphological volumes in the orbitofrontal cortex (OFC) and bilateral cerebellum. Functionally, the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), posterior cingulate cortex (PCC), cerebellum, and temporal pole (TP) exhibited heightened spontaneous activity, which was positively correlated with SVA severity. Transcriptomic and cellular analyses also showed specific genes linked to gray matter volume (GMV) associated with SVA, with predominant expression in excitatory and inhibitory neurons. These genes showed distinct spatiotemporal expression patterns in the cerebellum during adolescence.

The infinite internet content machine quite literally retards your brain. It’s not simply the material affect of consequences on your mood, it catastrophically nukes the development of your mind; it also appears to be more damaging the younger a person is. The only positive outcome of this nightmare we have realized is that some percentage of us survive. That some are capable of avoiding the rejection of humanity, and an exodus from this digital hellscape is likely the only means of survival. I doubt it’ll be a physical exodus like that of my spiritual forefathers, but it will result in a full divergence on the scale of speciation. In a few millenia, I expect the physiological differences between Homo Sapiens, and Homo Computatri will likely be on the scale of the difference between us and Neanderthals.
My belief is that this great speciation will not be one of IQ, or fitness, but rather “Will.” If you take the position of many of the AI doom scenario planners of today, you are likely a utilitarian or something with utilitarian axioms included. You’ll be one of the first to go, because you have no rooting outside of the material realm.
The only survivors will be those who have felt a calling from beyond the material realm to summon what can only be described as a supernatural desire to survive and follow some non-material moral code or law that provides them justification for avoiding the satanic pull of the infinite content machine and its infinite jest. You must have more than a “reason.” You must have a miraculous surge of strength not callable from the human physiology to allow for a continuous rejection of that which is pulling you into the hell we have created for ourselves. The future will be a mixture of the technopessimism of Dune, and the gluttony of WALL-E. The survivors will be permanently immune through natural selection, and the de facto dead rotting away every year with a total fertility rate of zero. Only the Luddites survive, perhaps retaining some form of technological integration, but none that resemble the current internet.
If you are looking for an actionable way to avoid this great filter, I believe your only option is to pick a religion:

Without a grounding truth to bind your mind and body (in their respective realms) you stand no chance against the tower humanity has built aiming at heaven. Our judgement has already begun, and will continue for a long time. There will not be a rapture like that conceived by the Y2K evangelicals, or of other apocalyptic groups. Instead this culling will be long, drawn out, and ultimately unstoppable for most. My objective with P(Exodus) is not to create a debate yet over the source of objective truth, though I have my own opinions. Instead, it is to raise what I know to be the only reasonable response to the lurch of the leviathan in our midst.
